Dear HGSD Parents, Staff and Community, November 25th, 2020
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. Undeniably, this year has been a challenging time for all. This Thanksgiving please take time to be thankful and grateful for all the positives that are easily overlooked. This year, more so than any other, let’s be grateful for family, good health, and great schools.
As you know, we are prepared to return to in-person learning at Northview Elementary School and hybrid learning at the Middle and High School on Monday, November 30th. Both the High School and the Middle School will return with Cohort 1 students attending in person Monday and Tuesday, while Cohort 2 students attend virtually. Cohort 2 students will attend in person Thursday and Friday, while Cohort 1 students attend virtually. Monday is an “A” day at the High School. Teachers will use this day to work with individual students or small groups (possibly in person) to get “caught up”. Some of the time on Wednesday will also be for teacher
For us to stay in session, it is critically important that we stay healthy. I cannot emphasize enough how very important the choices we make will be during the next two months. As I did last week, I have included a link with some tips for the holidays: https://www.smore.com/v1ryn TIPS FOR SAFER CELEBRATIONS DURING THE HOLIDAY SEASON . Our key metric for staying open is the ability to staff our buildings. The health and safety of our staff and students will determine how long we are able to stay open. It is my sincere hope that we stay healthy and open until
If your child has been sick, tested positive for COVID-19, or needed to be in quarantine over the virtual session, please let the appropriate school office know. This information is important for contact tracing purposes.
In addition to a return to in-person learning on Monday, we will resume co-curricular activities.
We are currently in search of cooks for the Howards Grove School District Food Service. Only work while your student is in school. Part time hours are about 8:30 am to 2pm, at the latest. Staring pay $11.00 per hour. Fun and clean environment. Will train. We also have a second shift, part time cleaning position at Northview Elementary. Call the district office at 565-4454 if you are interested.
The holiday season can always be stressful. The mental wellness of all is always a priority to us. Please check out the link to community resources and activities on our district website. Our counselors are always available to help.
Heartfelt wishes to all for a Happy Thanksgiving. Be safe and stay healthy. We are looking forward to seeing
students next week. Please reach out to us if you have questions.
