Dear HGSD Parents, Staff and Community,                                                                         April 30th, 2021

I hope this letter finds all of you doing well.

The USDA recently announced the extension of free lunch and breakfast to all students through the 2021-22 school year. Currently we are reviewing details of the extension and working on the district’s application for the 2021-22 school year. We anticipate the application will be approved and the free lunch and breakfast programs will continue next year for all students. The district will still be required to compile free and reduced student listings, more information will be coming about that process.

Summer School registration closes today! If any of the classes you signed up for had a fee to pay, the fee will be posted to student accounts on May 14th. We ask that those fees be paid by May 27th. Thank you to all of the families who have signed up for summer school. We are excited to learn and grow with your children this summer!

The last day for seniors will be June 4th.   Senior and Underclassmen Final exam schedules will be sent to families next week.   Due to the changes in the WIAA tournament schedule this year’s prom will be on June 11th from 8-11 pm.  Information about protocols, tickets and court will be sent via email to parents and students in a separate email.   The prom will only be for HGHS students grade 9-12, no guests from other schools will be allowed.   Finally we will be meeting next week to finalize graduation protocols.  Information will be sent to parents and students at the end of next week.

As I mentioned last week, there are several leadership positions open within the district.  The board recognizes the importance of filling these positions in a timely manner with strong leaders.  The Wisconsin Association of School Boards (WASB) has been retained to assist the board in the hiring process of the next superintendent.

Following is a timeline for the superintendent search process:

May 18th & 19th – Board Conducting First Round of Interviews and Selection of Finalists

May 26th – Final Round of Interviews with Stakeholder Group & Board

June 3rd – Announcement of New Superintendent / District Administrator

July 1st – Position Start

The other leadership openings will follow a similar timeline.  Middle School Principal interviews will begin with the board May 11th and 12th.  Northview Principal Interviews will begin in June.  Please watch for additional details coming soon.

As always, thank you for your continued support of the Howards Grove School District.  Please do not hesitate to reach out to any of us if you have questions or concerns.
